The Crane - Our Irish Natural Heritage

This is part of “Our Irish Natural History,” a collaborative project with the National Museum of Ireland and ICAN. Our research will go on display in an exhibition at the Dead Zoo Lab in Collins Barracks this Autumn. We look at the connection between the crane (Grus grus), our place-names and locally found archaeological artefacts that reflect the importance of this majestic bird through time. We look at halberds, a bronze age weapon and their connection to The Crane.
