Wildflower Identification Walk and Some Ditch Dining
This year’s Heritage Week theme is Connecting to our Foundations. On wild child day and water heritage day, we'll take a walk by the Barrow, a waterway that has very much shaped Carlow. You'll learn to identify the plants our forebears foraged for food, tools, and medicine. They're part of the fabric of our stories and support our lives even today, invisible workhorses keeping our world turning. This Heritage Week reconnect with nature as you learn how to ID our native wildflowers and hear their stories. We’ll be walking along the canal at Milford weir, joining the Barrow, learning about our biodiversity along the way. I’ll be sharing the uses of plants past and present including whether they’re edible or not. There will be a mini foraged feast to sample some of whats on offer in the hedgerow at this time of the year.
Meeting at the Barrow Brew. Please wear appropriate clothing for our lovely Irish summers. As this event is beside a river, the path may be muddy, so please wear appropriate footwear.
