Open Day at Dunamaise Apiary, Stradbally Hall, Co. Laois
Dunamaise Beekeepers are hosting an open day at their apiary on the Stradbally Hall Estate on Saturday August 24th from 11 am to 4 pm.
There will be an observation hive with glass walls through which visitors will be able to see the Queen and the bees at work. All of the bees in the hives are Native Irish Honey Bees as Dunamaise Beekeepers are working hard to ensure their survival and flourishing. There will also be a virtual hive set-up for demonstration purposes in addition to examples of the different kinds of honey made. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about both the ancient craft of beekeeping and the bees themselves from a group of passionate people! Stradbally Hall is proud member of the Historic Houses of Ireland.
Directions:
The entry to Dunamaise Apiary is located just outside Stradbally on the Timahoe Road. From Court Square in Stradbally, drive over the narrow bridge and continue straight along the Timahoe Road for approx. 1-1.5 kilometres. Heritage Week flags and signs will mark the entry to the Apiary on the right. Parking is limited.
