Open Weekend at Kerry County Museum

Visit Kerry County Museum to experience all exhibitions free of charge. Located in the Ashe Memorial Hall adjacent to Tralee Town Park, the museum offers a fascinating introduction to Kerry's distinctive culture and heritage. Following exhibitions will be on offer:

3. AUDIO-VISUAL ROOM
4. MUSEUM GALLERY: KERRY THROUGH THE AGES

7. THE MEDIEVAL EXPERIENCE
Along the way are plenty of hands-on activities for all the family: Discover a Stone Age survival kit; play Viking chess; plot St Brendan’s route to America; guess the origin of Ireland’s animals and write your Name in Ogham. You can even dig up two Viking skeletons in our archaeology exhibition and dress up in medieval costume as you stroll through the streets of Geraldine Tralee.

WHEELCHAIR & PUSHCHAIR ACCESS: For easy entry without steps please enter the Museum via the Tourist Information Office (the entrance is signposted and faces the playground side of Tralee Town Park)
LIFT: All exhibitions are accessible by lift (Please ask a staff member to assist)
LANGUAGE FACILITIES: We have exhibition information in following languages - Irish, English, Ukrainian, Polish, Italian, Spanish, French & German (Please ask staff member for details)
FAMILY ACTIVITIES: We provide a free activity booklet and pencil for all children. You can also pick up a copy of our Town Park Spotter Sheet and Tralee Family Heritage Trail at Reception.

Please note that Tralee is very busy in August and parking right next to the museum may be difficult due to the Rose of Tralee Festival. However, there are several large car parks nearby. We are expecting a large number of visitors but are are typically quieter in the morning, especially from 9:30am until 11am. During June, July and August, Kerry County Museum is open seven days a week from 9:30am until 5.30pm (last admission is at 4.15pm).
