Handling and care of Archives and Books'
As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations the Jackie Clarke Collection is organising a very special workshop with our document conservationist Benjamin van de Wetering. Benjamin was born into a family of craftworkers, his Father was a cabinet maker and his Uncle a trade bookbinder. After attending art school in the Netherlands he went onto study hand bookbinding and subsequently book and paper conservation at the 'Opleiding Restauratoren' now part of the University of Amsterdam. He moved to Ireland and set up The Ox Bindery with his wife Ineke. As part of the Heritage Week celebrations he will be running a free one day, two part programme as follows:
Wednesday 16th August 2023 – Ballina Library, Pearse St, Ballina,
11.00 - 13.00 Presentation

• Introduction to the Archives and Library Damage Atlases
• Q&A
14.00 - 16.00 Practical Session
