Guided Tour of Tullynisk House, Birr, Co. Ofally
Tullynisk House was built in about 1810 to the designs of Bernard Mullens for two younger sons of the Parsons family, of Birr Castle.
Set in a demesne of magnificent oak trees, it is remarkable both for its architectural ingenuity and regularity. The central feature of the five bay facade is part gothic, part Regency, recessed within a giant arch
While the the exterior is typically late-Georgian, the interior combines classical and Gothic elements.
The tour will last about an hour and will include a visit to the much earlier yard that was built as part of the original Woodfield House.
