Explore the Seashore
Join us for for a family event on the shore at Gearhies on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula. We will be exploring the beach and rock pools to find as many sea creatures and seaweeds as possible. There will also be the opportunity to learn more about the importance of the marine life of Bantry Bay. This fun and educational family event will be led by the ever enthusiastic Dolf D’Hondt (campaigner, diver, chair of the Fair Seas Steering Committee and local Coastwatch Coordinator) and Julia Cooper (marine expert and underwater photographer).
Note: the terrain is quite rough at low tide. Welly boots or beach/aqua shoes with soles that provide extra grip on slippery surfaces are recommended.
This event is free but advance booking is required via Eventbrite (see booking link).
There are a number of other events suitable for children and families taking place as part of the Ellen Hutchins Festival during Heritage Week. For the full programme see: https://ellenhutchins.com/ellen-hutchins-festival/
