Archaeology & Geodiversity of Fairy Castle Hill, Dublin Mountains

Irish Uplands Forum (IUF) and the Dublin Mountains Partnership (DMP), are delighted to jointly present a guided walk to Fairy Castle hill in the Dublin Mountains, to examine the geology, biodiversity and archaeology of this monumental site, where both natural and built heritage are at risk due to ever-increasing recreational and grazing pressures. IUF Geologist, Deirdre Lewis, and Ecologist, Mary Tubridy, will guide us on the natural heritage, while DMP's Community Archaeologist will explore the complex cultural heritage of the site. Join us in this joint exploration of some of County Dublin's most iconic landscapes and monuments, to see how we can better understand the risks to protect our shared heritage!

1. Event round-trip will be c. 2 hours on solid mountain tracks. Participants of moderate fitness, of all ages, are advised to wear walking boots and bring a raincoat/ fleece in the event of adverse weather.
2. Dublin Mountains Partnership will run a free bus from Carrickmines 'Park & Ride' (for those using public transport) at 6.30pm, to bring participants to the starting point of the guided walk beside the Bike Hire in lower Ticknock Forest Carpark.
3. Free car parking is available at Ticknock Forest Carpark.
