Our Irish Natural History: Bats, Bears and Other Cave-Dwelling Species Around Clarecastle, Co. Clare.
- Co. An Clár
Clarecastle and Ballyea Heritage and Wildlife Group are delighted to present our research on the significance of our local caves and their animal inhabitants.
We have researched our community's connections to the lesser horseshoe bat, the now-extinct brown bear, and other cave-dwelling species as part of "Our Irish Natural History," a collaborative project with the National Museum of Ireland. Our research will go on display in an exhibition at the Dead Zoo Lab in Collins Barracks this autumn.
The exhibition will display specimens from the natural history collections
alongside our group’s research, which will be conveyed through multimedia and text on an interactive touchscreen.
We invite you to explore our research on the Clarecastle and Ballyea Heritage digital archive. The link can be found below.
