As part of National Heritage Week 2026 we're delighted to share this short film of 'Not yet with the ashes this ragged thing /Ni a gye a sloha a turpog inox' a poem by award-winning Traveller writer and curator Oein DeBhairduin.
The poem poignantly encapsulates Oein's experience of rereading the Commission on Itineracy Report, 1963, a report which sought to eliminate Travellers from Irish society. The poem was read aloud as part of a conversation on Traveller culture and heritage; what has been lost or erased, and what can still be recovered. This is all part of a broader project curated by Oein which will be broadcast by Skein Podcasts later this year.
