Heritage video tutorials for children: get budding heritage specialists involved in National Heritage Week

Heritage Week Burren 22

One of the great things about National Heritage Week is that it gives the whole family a chance to partake.

This year’s theme of ‘Heritage and Education: Learning from our Heritage’, offers children and younger people the opportunity to contribute to intergenerational projects. Relearn skills from our heritage, discover what the school experience was like for grandparents and great-grandparents, or learn about the significance of a nearby water source on the development of a local town. There is so much to discover. Whether you are submitting a formal heritage project to us, looking for an opportunity to explore the heritage around you as a family, or have an inquisitive someone at home looking for an excuse to rummage around the garden - discovering its biodiversity, our friends at Heritage in Schools have created a series of YouTube tutorials to get you started. There are 36 video tutorials in this series - teaching children skills from how to build an insect hotel, to making pesto from wild garlic. Young viewer can also discover the heritage of hats and the story of wool.
