Wolfe Tone’s Journey, from Reformer to Rebel Talk

Wolfe Tone’s involvement in Irish politics commenced in 1790. Tone was a founding member of the Society of United Irishmen and was involved in the society’s calls for parliamentary reform in the early 1790s.

By 1795, Tone was in exile in America, and his role in politics had been dramatically altered, with separatist ideals now to the fore of his political ambitions. This talk will explore the factors that influenced Wolfe Tone’s involvement in Irish politics and prompted his evolution from a reformer to a rebel.
