- The Jackie Clarke Collection
- Pearse Street, Ballina
- F26 A368
- Co. Maigh Eo
In support of the Town Centres First policy, the Historic Towns Initiative in Ballina is a joint undertaking by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the Heritage Council and Mayo County Council's Architectural Conservation Office, which aims to promote heritage-led regeneration in Ballina.
The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021 sets out a roadmap for Ireland's transition to a climate resilient, biodiversity rich and climate neutral economy. This shift to a climate neutral future means that the conservation and repurposing of existing historic building stock has become increasingly more important. Increased maintenance and repair will be key to building resilience in our historic buildings and towns to enable them to withstand the effects of a changing environment.
Window repair works funded under the Historic Towns Initiative form part of our architectural conservation at The Jackie Clarke Collection. Mayo County Council's Architectural Conservation Office and Carrabine Joinery Ltd. will:
- Discuss the importance of examining window design, construction, and historic materials.
- Demonstrate traditional joinery techniques and appropriate repair methodologies.
14:30 - 14:40 Window Design and Historic Materials
14:40 - 15:30 Traditional Joinery Techniques
