Wild Pilgrim in West Wicklow

22 Lúnasa, 10rn - 4:30in

  • Kilranelagh Graveyard
  • Kilranelagh, Co Wicklow
  • Co. Cill Mantáin

Eco-Artist and founder of The Natural School of Art, Siobhan Madden is teaming up with Nicky Butler of Tír na Glass to offer a unique immersive journey through the ancient heritage on Kilranelagh Hill in West Wicklow.
This journey is called 'Wild Pilgrim'. It aims to nurture well-being and a deep connection to nature through reflective art, as well as gaining insight in to the mythology and history that surrounds the ancients heritage sites. On the hill is an old graveyard with Brigid's well, a stone circle and ringfort. Nicky will share the stories associated with the ancient sites that we visit.

As we walk to the sites, Siobhan will guide us on gathering nature items on the journey, doing some Ogham writing with nature ink and reflecting on our experience through a choice of 3D needle felting or 2D paint/drawing/mixed media.

You may also decide to take this time to simply connect, chat, and immerse in the woods.

Together we hope to highlight the fact that this amazing heritage in West Wicklow will be forgotten if we don't make an effort to keep it alive. This area is rich in ancient heritage and wonderful artists. We will demonstrate that art, nature and heritage can go hand in hand. We will bring this heritage to life through our artwork.

Please dress for the outdoors. Wear waterproof hiking boots and bring waterproof clothing in case of bad weather. There is an option of doing the art workshop indoors if the weather is bad, but much of the event will be outdoors. Please also bring along something to sit on that can fit in a backpack, water and a packed lunch. Tea provided.

Fee €65
