Waterville Seashore Biodiversity Exploration
Join us, Sea Synergy, and Waterville Tidy Towns for a guided exploration of the beautiful Inny Strand as part of National Heritage Week.
Discover the incredible biodiversity of this unique stretch of coastline while learning about the habitats and species that make it such an important part of Ireland's natural heritage. During this family-friendly guided walk, participants will explore sandy shores, rock pools and coastal ecosystems, with opportunities to observe local marine wildlife, including the resident grey seal colony.
Our marine educators will explain how these habitats support biodiversity, why they are important to local communities, and the simple actions we can all take to help protect them. Whether you're interested in wildlife, conservation or simply enjoying the outdoors, this event offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and gain a deeper appreciation of our coastal environment.
The event is suitable for all ages, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn from our experienced team.
This event is delivered in partnership with Waterville Tidy Towns and is proudly supported by the River Basin Management Service.
What to bring: Please wear wellies or water shoes and dress appropriately for the weather with waterproof clothing or sun protection, as needed. If you have them, feel free to bring your own bucket and net, although we will have equipment available for participants to borrow.
