
Delgany's Heritage Trail & Glen of the Downs Nature Reserve
Join Sheena Gogarty on a fascinating journey following the Heritage Trail through Delgany Village. The walk will begin at the Wicklow Arms carpark in the heart of the village stopping at various points of interest along the trail to include Christ Church, Style Bawn House, The Glebe & Three Trout Stream to name but a few. The walk will also include the Glen of the Downs walking trail which will take in amazing views of the surrounding countryside, passing the old gateway to the Bellevue estate once owned by the La Touche family and ascending through the woodland to the Octagon, an 18th century folly with an extensive view of the Great Sugarloaf and the surrounding Nature Reserve. The walk will finish at the Old Burial Ground with it's 13th century church ruins & remains of a High Cross dating to the 7th century.
Please be advised that due to some steep steps and ascents and areas of muddy ground, this walk requires a reasonable level of fitness and suitable footwear should be worn. As this is an outdoor event please dress for the weather. This walk is NOT suitable for buggies and very young children.
