Victorian Classroom (Workshop)
Sit down! Backs straight! No talking!
Mrs. Beatrice Bottomley expects all the boys and girls of Cork city to arrive on time for her Victorian classroom experience at The Old Cork Waterworks.
Built in 1857 as a marvel of Victorian engineering, almost 200 years later for Cork's Heritage Day this incredible site will be open to children for a free session of learning and play.
Join our enthusiastic staff in a roleplay experience which will give young pupils a crash course in Victorian education, from silly classroom punishments to the dreaded "three R's". The perfect free activity for kids with an interest in history or drama - students will learn about Cork under British rule and the daily lives of Victorian children, and get an interactive tour of The Old Cork Waterworks museum and engine rooms. Attendees are encouraged to dress up for the occasion in olden-days costumes, and to bring a snack for break time where they'll learn some historic schoolyard games.
Suitable for children age 7yrs to 11yrs bookings open on Wednesday August 6th.
