Unlock Your Family Story: A Genealogy Workshop
Curious about your roots? Join us for a practical and engaging workshop designed to help you start tracing your family history. Whether you're taking your first steps in genealogy or looking to deepen your research, you'll learn how to navigate key historical records, including birth, marriage, death, church, land, and census records, and discover where to access them both online and locally.
A special session, "Making Sense of the Census," will explore the recently released 1926 Census of Ireland, along with earlier census records and surviving census material dating back to the 19th century. We'll also examine valuable census substitutes that can help fill the gaps where records have been lost, providing new avenues for tracing your ancestors.
The workshop will be delivered by local man and qualified genealogist Jimmy O'Brien, who will share expert tips, practical research techniques, and useful resources to help you piece together your family's story.
Bring your questions, discover new records, and begin your journey into the generations that came before you. Whether you're researching local families or building a wider family tree, this workshop will provide the tools and confidence to unlock your family history.
