Join Meath Travellers Workshop for the launch of the Traveller Culture and Heritage Information Pack, a new educational resource celebrating the rich traditions, history, and living heritage of the Irish Traveller community.

Developed in partnership with Traveller community members, the information pack explores eight themes, including Traveller marriages and weddings, births, communions, homes and nomadism, storytelling, customs and traditions, history, remembrance practices, and Traveller contributions to Irish society.

The launch event will feature presentations from Traveller contributors who will share personal stories, cultural knowledge, and lived experiences that helped shape the resource. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Meath Travellers Workshop's traditional Barrel Top Wagon, learn about the history of Traveller nomadic life, ask questions, and engage in discussion about Traveller heritage and identity.

Free copies of the information pack will be available to schools, libraries, community organisations, public agencies, and members of the public to help promote understanding and appreciation of Traveller culture long after Heritage Week.

This free, accessible event welcomes everyone with an interest in Ireland's living heritage and offers an opportunity to celebrate and help preserve Traveller intangible cultural heritage for future generations.

This is a free, family-friendly event, and everyone is welcome to attend. Copies of the Traveller Culture and Heritage Information Pack will be available free of charge for attendees, schools, libraries, community organisations, public agencies, and anyone interested in learning more about Irish Traveller culture and heritage, while stocks last.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore Meath Travellers Workshop's Traveller Living History Exhibition, featuring a traditional Barrel Top Wagon and displays celebrating Traveller history, nomadic life, and cultural traditions. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to learn about the lived experiences of Traveller families, discover the significance of Traveller customs and traditions, and engage with an important part of Ireland's living heritage.

Attendees are encouraged to browse the exhibition, speak with Traveller community members, ask questions, and learn more about the history, resilience, and cultural contributions of the Traveller community. Light refreshments will be provided, and the event offers a welcoming space for people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate and appreciate Traveller heritage during National Heritage Week.
