A walking tour through the Quadrangle building which first opened its doors to students in 1849, including the Aula Maxima, President’s rooms and the James Mitchell Geology Museum. Learn about the origins of the University, the Quadrangle’s architectural features and some of the characters who passed through its halls.
While visitors with mobility issues can access some areas, e.g. Quadrangle courtyard and Aula Maxima, this tour will include steps and stairs in other places.
Clamping is in operation on the university campus. There are a limited amount of designated Pay and Display places, but these are often full. Visitors are advised to use the pay and display parking facilities at Galway Cathedral and walk onto campus from there or use public transport.
