Enjoy National Heritage Week by taking a stroll down memory lane amongst the leaning headstones of Ballynamona Graveyard and Templemichael Church, which dates back to the 13th century. Admire the restoration works that are underway made possible by the Community Heritage Grants received from The Heritage Council and Cork County Council. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the grounds and appreciate the buzz of the wildlife in our rewilding areas to promote biodiversity.
On Saturday 16th August anytime between 11am-1pm, visit the nearby Mourneabbey Community Centre, P51 AKP9, to view a display of achievements over the past 2 years and chat with the Ballynamona Graveyard Group Committee and Volunteers. There will be a short presentation of the heritage findings made by the group since their formation and beginning their work of caring for and conserving the wonderful heritage visible in our local graveyard.
A 'Keeping Memories Alive' exhibition of artwork by 5th and 6th class children from Analeentha and Burnfort National Schools will take place, followed by a prizegiving ceremony.
Plenty of time to relax and reminisce with neighbours, friends and family whilst enjoying some light refreshments afterwards.
