Ballydarton is a gothic Tudor Revival house designed by the notable architect Daniel Robertson and built in around 1830. In 1835, he wrote 'I hope he has seen, my beautiful, my own Ballydarton, that house is my pride'. When the current owners, the Smyth family, arrived in 1969, the house had been derelict for 10 years. It has now been lovingly restored. and also boasts a very early example of the unique Carlow fence made of granite.
Ballydarton House is hosting this tour in association with Historic Houses of Ireland.
