The Song of the Scythe is an annual celebration of traditional scything, biodiversity, music, and community, taking place on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th August at Graine Native Tree Nursery.

Friday 14th August – An Evening of Song

7:00 pm

Lus na Tine presents an intimate evening of music featuring Muireann Ní Shé, Aisling Lyons, and Crispy Quill with William Slattery, set in the beautiful surroundings of Graine Native Tree Nursery.

Saturday 15th August – Festival Day & Meitheal

From 11:00 am onwards

Join us for a day celebrating traditional land skills, local food, and cultural heritage.

Scythe Sharpening & Peening Clinics
Grass Identification & Hedgerow Walk
Traditional Hay Weaving
Micro-talks with Guest Speakers
Spoken Word & Song with Paddy Doyle and Lus na Tine
Locally sourced food, including lunch from Skehana Hill Farm

Everyone is welcome, whether you're an experienced scyther or simply curious to learn more about this rich tradition. Come along to enjoy practical workshops, music, storytelling, and a shared celebration of our natural and cultural heritage.
