The Names That Shaped Us – Dunlavin’s Placenames
Have you heard of The Bunditch or Blind Lane? Ever wondered how these names came to be?
As part of our Heritage Week project, we are gathering the local names of fields, lanes, wells, rocks, hollows, hills, houses, crossroads, and farms — names that hold the history of our people, our place, and our past. These placenames are rich in meaning and deserve to be preserved for future generations.
Join us for a special afternoon to celebrate this local heritage. We will unveil a vibrant mural depicting the placenames we have collected, launch our brochure, and share stories of the area’s history. There will also be face painting for children, and plenty of time for a cuppa and a chat in the Imaal Hall.
Come along and reconnect with the stories of our landscape — everyone is welcome!
