The Living Waters of the Gorragh: A Heritage Walk

Join us for "The Living Waters of the Gorragh: A Heritage Walk" on Water Heritage Day, a highlight of National Heritage Week in Ireland. This engaging walk will lead us to the Gorragh River, which flows from the Slieve Bloom Mountains.

Recognized as a protected Blue Dot River, the Gorragh River is renowned for its outstanding ecological value. During our exploration, we will connect with nature, uncover its rich biodiversity, and discuss the river's important role in our lives and in conservation efforts.

Starting at Clonaslee Woods Trail Head, our route will traverse varied terrains, including minor roads, sandy laneways, and scenic forest paths. Suitable for all fitness levels, the trail invites participants to learn how Blue Dot Rivers indicate successful conservation efforts that benefit sensitive species, aquatic life, and local communities.

After our walk, enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks at The Heritage Centre. Registration is required for this enriching experience, enhancing our appreciation for Ireland's water ecosystems. Registered participants will also receive a free cap!
