The Lasting Influence of Sligo Woman on Irish Culture

Sligo Folk Park is delighted to host a talk on 'The Lasting Influence of Sligo Women on Irish Culture'. This event builds on last years success of showcasing the richness of Sligo's Cultural Heritage. Hugh Kelly will present a talk on Emily Barlow, a Riverstown native who died on the RMS Leinster after it was torpedoed by a German submarine during the First World War. Joyce Enright will talk about Susan Pollexfen Yeats, the mother of William Butler and Jack and her daughters Lollie and Lily Yeats and other members of the Yeats family.

Martin Probst will present a talk and songs from Maisie McDaniel, the famous award winning Sligo born singer, with hits 'The Blackboard of My Heart, Forty Shades of Green and This Song's just for you to name a few, Maisie hosted who own show on Telefis Eireann called 'County Style'.

Refreshments will be provided in the Millstone Cafe at 10pm.
