Noel has been actively birdwatching since his early teens. He is a voting member of the Irish Rare Birds Committee and has added one new species to the Irish list. Noel is the Co. Cork representative of Swift Conservation Ireland, and works as an ornithological survey ecologist, being an alumni of the University of Oxford. Noel completed his university research project on developing an evidence based guideline for swift nest site surveying.

The swift is on the Red List of birds of conservation concern in Ireland because its population has declined by over 40% in the last 25 years. Conservation actions across the country are helping to recover populations. Swifts come to our towns and villages to breed every year, breeding in the same nest site year after year. Come along to learn about these extraordinary birds and how Ireland plays a vital role in their conservation.
