• The launch of Transformers, Cabbage Patch Kids or My Little Pony?

The generation with direct memory of mid-twentieth-century Irish childhood is aging rapidly. Oral accounts are disappearing and the lived memory of childhoods past is at risk of being lost. The work of the Museum of Childhood is addressing this risk, by capturing memories and experiences, as well as collecting and curating childhood objects.

This Creative Writing Workshop will support the surfacing, recording and collecting of “Stories of Childhood”. It will do this by inspiring participants to remember objects and related incidents from childhood, sparking fascinating discussions. They will learn techniques to help recall long forgotten memories and get them written down to become part of the historical record of childhood.
