The foundation stone for St Andrew's Catholic Church was laid by Dr. George Butler, Bishop of Limerick, on 6th July 1879 and it was officially opened in 1889.
The building project was spearheaded by Father Patrick Lee Parish Priest of Kilfinane 1879-1892. The Church was designed by George Coppinger Ashlin (1837-1921) who also designed St Colman's Cathedral in Cobh.
