Via the medium of Limerick Museum’s natural history collections, this exhibition will explore changes within Ireland’s ecosystem over many millions of years.
Some of the species on display no longer exist in the natural world and act as a powerful reminder that creatures which once roared and roamed freely, can now only be seen within the cased confines of natural history collections.
At the centre of the exhibition stands Limerick Museum’s recently restored Great Irish Elk. A symbol of Ireland’s changed environment, the elk is a stark reminder that ecosystems are not fixed, species do not persist indefinitely and disappearance can be permanent.
Step into the world of Ireland’s natural history and consider what was … and what might be.
This event commences at 5.30 pm
