  • Rattoo Round Tower
  • Co. Ciarraí

A rare opportunity to step inside one of Ireland's most iconic symbols. Rattoo Round Tower is the only complete surviving round tower in Kerry and is one of the finest surviving examples in Ireland. On the inner frame of the north window a Sheela-na-gig with pellet moulding was discovered during repair work in 1880-81. A plaster cast of the Sheela-na-gig is in the National Museum of Ireland. The tower at Rattoo, has been dated by radiocarbon methods to the late 11th century. It stands in an early medieval ecclesiastical complex, thought to date from the 13th century
