Dunkineely Community Ltd, and the Killaghtee Heritage Trail is honoured to host an evening of expert talks, music, and community celebration as we mark the creation of the replica MacSuibhne Graveslab. We are delighted to welcome highly qualified specialists and many of those directly involved in the project’s development. This event is a special moment for our community, and we warmly encourage members of the Sweeney clan, and all with an interest in local heritage, to join us.
Auriel Robinson, Maritime Archaeologist and Clean Coasts Officer for Donegal with An Taisce, will share The Story of the Girona — its dramatic arrival on our coastline after a fatal storm, and the perilous journey that followed.
Dr Edward Pollard will present his research on Rahan Castle, exploring its history and the impacts of climate change on the castle and the St John’s Point coast. He will also speak about the MacSuibhne Graveslab replica ahead of its official unveiling.
We are delighted to be joined by musicians from the O’Donnell School of Music and singer‑songwriter Laura McGurk, who will add a beautiful musical dimension to the evening.
Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to attend this celebration of heritage, learning, and community.
