Poetry & Storytelling with Patrick Carton.

Patrick Carton is a tour guide in Clonmacnoise. He is also a performance poet and storyteller. Now there is a chance to hear him in action here in Clonmacnoise as part of Heritage Week on Saturday 23 August 2025. Patrick celebrates the major and minor mysteries of life with humour, rhythm and rhyme. He is a seanchaí in the ancient mould, but a modern slant.

While attending Galway University he honed his poetic art by declaiming "blasts of bardic brilliance" at traditional Irish music sessions. He was also an active member of the Drama Society, both as actor and director.

He has appeared at:

- All Ireland Amateur Drama Festival, Athlone
- Scór
- Irish American Festival, Washington DC

and many other public houses, coffee houses and manys the other house besides

He has appeared on RTE1 television, Midlands 103 and was also an after dinner storyteller for Royal Irish Tours in Kilronan Castle, Co. Roscomon for a couple of seasons. Expect to be entertained with an eclectic mix of the old and the new within the ancient environs of Clonmacnoise. Sure you couldn't beat it with a stick.
