Poetry Reading and Open Mic with Karen J. McDonnell

22 Lúnasa, 6:30in - 8in

  • Banner Books
  • 1a, Hector Street Mills, Frances Street, Kilrush
  • V15 PW83
  • Co. An Clár

Join poet and author Karen J. McDonnel for an evening of readings, including new poetry from her upcoming collection 'Tidal', followed by an open mic where all are welcome to share their own work.

Karen has strong roots in Kilrush and Kilkee, and themes in her work include family history, general history, and the human dimension to world events, as well as the feminist perspective. But sometimes it’s just an image or an overheard phrase that can set a poem on its particular way.

For those who wish to read their own work, we would particularly welcome poems or short prose pieces on the themes of West Clare (especially Kilrush), times past and sense of place and community.

There is no obligation to read, and those who just come to listen are welcome too! The event is free and open to all, and light refreshments will be served.
