Papermaking from Wild Plant Materials

Workshop facilitated by Sonia Caldwell

Using local plant material you will learn the basics of making your own paper. This ancient skill was not that long ago unknown to Europe before it was brought from Asia. What we now take for granted as mass produced, it can be made in many ways as an art form in it own right.

The processes of preparing and cooking the fibres will be demonstrated, then we will pulp some by hand before learning the process of forming a sheet of paper.
