Open Day at Wicklow Head Lighthouse

24 Lúnasa, 10rn - 4in

  • Wicklow Head Lighthouse
  • Dunbur, Co. Wicklow
  • Co. Cill Mantáin

To celebrate National Heritage Week 2025, Wicklow Head Lighthouse will be open on Sunday 24th August from 10am to 4pm. This is a free event offering a rare chance to step inside one of Ireland’s most iconic lighthouses, now a bucket list self-catering property. Perched high above the Irish Sea, and almost always booked out, the transformation of this imposing six-storey tower was one of the final projects by renowned architect Maura Shaffrey. Visitors can admire the remarkable views and explore the unique interior while learning more about the conservation work undertaken by Irish Landmark Trust.

Strictly no parking at the Lighthouse. Visitors must park in the Glen Beach Cliff Walk Carpark. There will be guides to direct visitors to the lighthouse which is a 2km walk. No dogs allowed in the property. Children should be accompanied at all times.

NB: There are 109 steps to the kitchen. Visitors with mobility issues may find going further than the ground floor entrance challenging, particularly with the footfall we expect on the day.

Spaces are limited and this event proves very popular each year. We recommend booking ahead via the registration link when it is live.
