Nurture in Nature Festival Castleblayney

A Nurture in Nature Festival is a unique three-day celebration of heritage, culture, arts, and wellbeing, taking place in Castleblayney, Co.Monaghan from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd August. Rooted in the rich heritage of the local landscape and community, the festival invites people of all ages to reconnect with the traditions, stories, skills, and natural environment that shape our shared identity.

Over the weekend, people will discover crafts and heritage practices through experiences such as heritage walks, native tree exploration, fermentation workshops, wildflower and fairy tree explorations, and storytelling that celebrates local history, folklore, and biodiversity. These activities honour traditional knowledge while encouraging people to appreciate and protect the cultural and natural heritage that surrounds them.

Alongside its heritage programme, the festival offers a wide range of creative and wellbeing activities including music, dance, creative arts, outdoor sketching, yoga, Tai Chi, sound baths, forest meditation, and accessible movement sessions for all ages and abilities. We welcome families, older people, young people, migrant communities, LGBTQ+ communities, and people with disabilities to take part in this inclusive programme. Connect with each other.

Inspired by the Five Ways to Wellbeing—Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, and Give—the festival demonstrates how our heritage can become a living resource for health and wellbeing. By bringing together local history, artistic expression, and nature, A Nurture in Nature Festival celebrates the past while creating new shared experiences for the future, strengthening a sense of place in beautiful Lough Muckno and its surrounds.
