Mountmellick Library will have a display of old Irish and international stamps from the 1940’s onwards featuring stamps of historical events, famous people and other heritage features. There will be an accompanying quiz for adults and older children that once completed can be entered into a prize draw. There will be a book display and/or access to a computer to help you answer the quiz!
Design an Irish stamp competition: Design your own Irish stamp to celebrate Irish heritage and culture-our history, nature, music, famous people, artists, writers, sports, traditions or anything else you can think of! Pick up the design template in the library and when completed enter it in the prize draw!
Our letter café will be open in Mountmellick Library from August 16th, 2025:
Take a few minutes out of your day and drop in and write a letter or note to someone! We will provide notelets, postcards, envelopes and pens!
Design your won postcard; We will have blank postcard templates that children can colour and design with markers and stickers.
Our President Michael D. Higgins will retire in November 2025. Why not write him a letter to wish him well? Address the envelope to President Michael D. Higgins, Áras an Uachtaráin Phoenix Park, Dublin 8. Put in the President’s box and we will post it to him for you!
