Moth Morning: 7 am on Saturday 16th August

Moth Morning on the Lady Chapel Road, Maynooth, County Kildare, at Philip Strickland’s home. Philip’s grounds contain an excellent grassland habitat and adjoining interesting woodland. Did you know that Ireland has just 35 butterfly species, but has 1505 moths? These are vital for ecosystems, regulating plant growth, pollinating crops, feeding other animals, and living in many places: under the soil, in water, on grasses, flowers and trees. Learn about the amazing range in the colour, size and shape of our night-flying moths. You will get up close and personal with our rarely encountered nocturnal animals.

The event will be led by Philip Strickland and Jesmond Harding.
Please note that the area is private land. See https://butterflyconservation.ie/wp/events-2/
