Join us on Saturday 23rd August as we celebrate the Bi-Centenary of Michael Dwyer ‘The Wicklow Chief’ and renowned 1798 rebellion leader. We have so much history to share with you in what promises to be a full day on the history of Michael Dwyer set in the beautiful Glenmalure. Talks will include tracing Dwyer’s early life, his part in 1798 and its aftermath, his exile and enduring legacy in Australia.

The guest speakers on the day are Local Historian/Glenmalure Resident and Author, Carmel O’Toole, Dr. Ruan O’Donnell, University of Limerick, who has written a number of historical books including a biography of Michael Dwyer, Dr. Perry McIntyre, Australian Historian and expert genealogist, as well as our own Dr. Joan Kavanagh, Author and Historian.

We will unveil a specially commissioned piece to remember Michael Dwyer on this historic anniversary. Speeches will follow this by distinguished guests on the day. This will be a full day event held in the grounds next to Glenmalure lodge.
