Lá Gaelach

An Lá Gaelach will be a day of song and conversation through the medium of the Irish language.
Instrumentalist and singer Noel Mac Liam will take centre stage on Sunday, August 17 - a well known and recognised singer, Mr MacLiam has an extensive range of songs and enjoys explaining the history associated with songs. His knowledge of the background to the songs will definitely hit the right note with history and music lovers, alike.
There will be other local singers present on the day amongst which will be sean-nós singer Michelle Nic Pháidín. Michelle has competed in singing competitions from an early age. Having won in competitions such as Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and Oireachtas na Gaeilge she will enjoy having the opportunity to sing in Carrigart Gaeltacht. An award winning writer, Michelle will read a piece from one of her award winning Irish poems or stories from the fireside.
Other singers from the area are invited to come along and sing. The event will attract Irish speakers from the area and visitors will be invited to practice their cúpla focal and encouraged to join in during the singing sessions.
