Clare Museum invites you to a lunchtime talk with Dr. Eamon Doyle, the geologist for the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark. The talk, entitled ‘Comparing the karst landscapes of Croatia and the Burren – it is not a competition’, also coincides with Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and County Clare’s pairing with Croatia.

Dr. Eamon Doyle received his PhD from University College Galway in the last century and has worked as a lecturer in geology in the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. He specializes in finding and describing new and interesting fossils, including several new species. He is very proud to have one fossil species of starfish he found named after him! He also works on the karst limestone landscape of the Burren, including the caves and hydrology, and works with multiple researchers in universities in Ireland and abroad to understand the fascinating geological history of the Burren region.
