'Open House: Living in History' – A Glimpse Inside The Restoration of an Arts and Crafts Home
Step inside one of Talbotsinch Village’s original homes for a rare opportunity to experience Arts and Crafts architecture up close. Built as part of Lady Desart’s visionary model village in the early 20th century, this private residence is currently undergoing sensitive restoration to preserve and highlight its original features, including handcrafted woodwork, traditional clay tiles, and period layout.
This guided tour offers visitors a short but intimate glimpse into life inside a heritage home as a living space in transition. Alongside the tour, you'll see a small display of documents, and restoration plans, with stories of the home's past occupants and the ongoing effort to maintain its unique character.
The tour will run in one small group by appointment at 11am, allowing time to ask questions, learn about the restoration process, and explore the home’s historical context within Talbotsinch Village and the broader Arts and Crafts movement.
Whether you're passionate about heritage conservation, curious about Lady Desart’s legacy, or simply love old houses, this event offers a rare and personal insight into the layered history of Talbotsinch Village.
