We are delighted to welcome you to Lisglassock House & Gardens for our special National Heritage Week open days. This is a rare opportunity to experience this beautiful historic home.

Lisglassock or Lios Glassog, meaning 'the fort of the water wagtails', is a property steeped in history, located between Ballymahon and Kenagh, Co. Longford.

The original house was built in Cromwellian times when the estate was confiscated and allocated to Cromwellian agents.

The current, late Georgian-style house was constructed around 1820 and features a Wyatt window, along with an elegant flourish in its round-headed door with wide-spoked fanlight. A Gibbsian stone door frame (named after James Gibbs 1682-1754), overlooks the beautiful gardens and tennis courts.

The property has been lovingly restored by its present owners with strict conservation principles in respect of the architectural value of this regency house.

These open days explore the house's history of stewardship and its current role as a sanctuary for mindfulness and creativity. Each session includes a brief historical talk and concludes with light seasonal refreshments, curated with a focus on local and wholesome ingredients.

Lissglassock House is a proud member of Historic Houses of Ireland.

Fee: €20 per person, includes refreshments.

Please book in advance.
