Lackagh Museum & Heritage Oral History Project

Launch of the voices from the Lackagh Museum and Heritage Oral History Project 2006 on Saturday, the 22nd of August 2026 at 8:15 PM in Carnoneen Parish Centre.

Join Lackagh Museum Group for a special Heritage Week event to celebrate an oral history project commissioned by the group involving older people in the parish of Lackagh, Turloughmore, County Galway who had their stories and memories recorded. Hear extracts from the recordings of the senior citizens who participated. The interviews give us an insight to social history, local traditions, working life, daily living experience, family life, migration, farming, education, faith, leisure activities and community change across generations.

The interviews were carried out by local resident Seamus Gallagher, broadcaster with Kinvara Community Radio “Talking with Séamus”.

On the night, Séamus will broadcast an hour-long programme in which we will hear extracts from participants, and important information on Life and Times gone by.

The Museum Committee is delighted to provide this event to the local community as part of National Heritage Week August 2026.
