Kildare Local Placenames Drop In Workshop

Minor local placenames- field names, crossroad names and a wide range of other landscape features can all provide an insight to where we live and what was in the area in the past. But many of our local placenames have been lost as they were not recorded. The Meitheal Logainm website is a fantastic resource where anybody can record these minor placenames and add descriptions.

No matter how minor they might appear, we would love to record as many Kildare placenames as possible, so drop in between 2pm and 7pm for a chat and a cuppa and find out how to preserve this important aspect of our cultural heritage. With the theme of National Heritage Week 2026 being "Heritage at Risk" this event is a practical response to that loss.

We will enter some placenames during the event and will provide a simple guide to registering placenames for additional entries.
