The event starts with a talk in the library and is followed by a walk along the canal and into the park, using an accessible itinerary for wheelchair users.

The talk is by John Kennedy, who is a data scientist and software engineer. He is also a wildlife surveyor with BirdWatch Ireland, Kildare Bat Group and a community volunteer in Clane. He has done environmental mapping of the green corridors around Rathangan, which forms the scientific basis for the event.
