John Boyle O'Reilly Festival Opening Ceremony

On Thursday 13th of August the Opening Ceremony of the John Boyle O'Reilly Festival will take place at 7.30pm in Dowth Cemetery by the John Boyle O'Reilly Memorial monument. GAA President will open the ceremony and will lay a wreath alongside other dignitaries and honoured guests. St. Brigids Pipe Band Members will provide pipe music and the event will then move to Netterville House where we will have a re-enactment of the Letter from the Tomb from James Wilson a Fenian Prisoner in 'The Establishment' Prison in Australia to John Devoy in the USA.

Also on Friday 14th at 7pm in Netterville we have Historian Marcus Howard giving his historical talk about the Catalpa Rescue on its 150th Anniversary. This will be approx. 1 hour to 1.5 hours long.

On Saturday 15th at 12pm at Netterville we have Local Historian Brendan Matthews giving a talk on the history of local Fenians and other figures again this talk will take between 1hour to 1.5 hours in time.
