This Heritage Week join the Irish Wildlife Trust at the Kenmare Community Garden to learn about Ireland’s wild bees, how to identify the common species, and what you can do to help protect them.

More than half of Ireland’s bee species have undergone substantial declines in their numbers since 1980 and many are threatened with extinction. This truly is an example of Ireland's heritage at risk but it is not too late to take action to save Ireland’s bees. This event will focus on actions people can take to help protect and restore our wild bee populations.

The event will consist of an introduction to the world of Ireland’s wild bees, how to identify and monitor them, and how to create bee habitats. Through a short presentation at the Taobh Linn centre and a practical session in the community gardens, we'll learn the difference between bumblebees, solitary bees, and honey bees as well as how to create bumblebee and solitary bee habitat.

Booking is essential for this event. See booking button below.

This event is run with the support of the Heritage Council, Kenmare Tidy Towns, and Kenmare Community Care.
