Hundreds of people pass it every day, but not everyone knows the poignant significance of All Saints Cemetery at the top of Carr’s Hill. It is a famine and paupers’ graveyard, where thousands of poverty-stricken men, women, and children are buried with no headstone. Following the collapse of the historic entrance and stone walls, Cork City Council took ownership of this hallowed ground, and is now planning a restoration project based around amenity development, heritage, and archaeology.
‘Hidden History - The Past and Future of All Saints Cemetery’ is a new, high-level exhibition from Douglas Tidy Towns with support from Independent city councillor and historian Kieran McCarthy, which aims to keep the cemetery in the local community’s mind while the council works on its plan.
THE EXHIBITION WILL RUN FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2025
